Great Movie Blogs to Visit

A great movie blog to visit is “IMDB”. This blog has it all from every movie ever made to ratings, the latest news in the movie world, and even showing times at any theatre. This is defiantly my favorite movie source whenever I want to know anything about a movie. Another great blog for movies is “AFI’s top 100 movie list”. This blog is very organized and has very good opinions on movies. They have descriptions, when the movie was filmed, and all the actors and directors info. This is another great movie blog. “Fandango” is another commonly used movie blog, and also is very similar to “IMDB”. Actually there isn’t any differences except for the reviews they right and their top 100 list. “College Humor” also has a great movie blog database. This blog is setup a little different from the others but just like ALL movie blogs it will give you the same information, but different opinions and reviews. All of these are great sources that a lot of people including myself use to get information about movies.

Jaws

What a movie! Jaws, known as one of the greatest movies of all time and as a movie that changed movie and film history drastically. This 1975 classic film Jaws by legendary director Steven Spielberg who has directed many of films that have changed the way that movies are made and looked at today. For example Men in Black 3, E.T., Saving Private Ryan, and Schindler’s List. All of which are amazing movies that have changed movie history. Jaws one of his most famous films that he directed is the story of a ginormous great white shark that begins to danger a small island. Roy Scheider as Brody, the police chief, Richard Dreyfuss as Hooper the marine scientist, and Quint played by Robert Shaw, a fisherman set out to stop the beast from harming or killing anymore innocent civilians. Can they stop the shark, or does the shark stop them? Throughout this movie you will see very little special effects. One of the special effects that they use at the end of the movie is when the shark blows up when Chief Brody shoots the shark with the hydrogen tank. A little fun fact about that scene is that right after Brody shoots the shark, when they show the shark dead under water you hear a dinosaur roar which was a tribute to Steven Spielberg’s first movie Duel.  But the biggest special effect of the movie is that you don’t see the shark for almost the whole movie. This in my opinion is the best special effect because it makes you use your imagination about the shark and made people even more scared about going into the ocean now. Another fun fact about the movie that most people don’t know is that the shark didn’t work for most of the time that they were filming the movie which is why you hardly see the shark, because of this it really helped make it more realistic and instead of this technical difficulty ruining the movie it ended up making it better. The sound effects and music that they use in this movie really help bring it together, like when the shark is about to attack his next victim they do a good job of making it intense and making you anxious for the attack to happen and right before most of the attacks you hear the jaws theme song playing getting you ready for it to happen. After watching and reviewing this movie I would have to give it a five out of five stars.

The Godfather Part 2

In the movie “The Godfather Part 2” directed by Francis Ford Coppola there is a great story being told about how Michael Corleone is the new godfather and how he is now running the business differently now that his father is dead. The movie starts out with the back story of his father as a child in Italy, and throughout the movie there are flashbacks of Vito Corleone and how he starts the business and how he becomes the godfather. In between the back stories of Vito when he was younger it is about Michael running the business and all the deals he makes to help all of his businesses grow and get bigger. In this movie the business has changed from the wine business in the first movie to him now also getting into the gambling business. Throughout the movie many murders and deaths occur, and to very surprising people. This movie is very suspenseful and makes you not able to wait to see what is going to happen next.  I think that this movie was very well written and directed, and is a very good continuation of the first movie “The Godfather”.  This movie is a must see movie if you have not seen this movie you need to rent it or find a place that sells the movie and buy it. This movie has tons of action and drama, it’s a great movie for those who love to have random movie nights. I would give this movie five out of five stars.

The Godfather

For the month of November I am going to be watching classic movies and writing reviews about them. For the first two movies that I am going to see are “The Godfather” directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and “The Godfather Part 2” also directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Both of these movies are known as classics in movie history, and after watching them I would defiantly have to agree. “The Godfather” is about a family owned crime dynasty with the godfather Don Vito Corleone, the head of this New York Mafia “family”. Vito Corleone is a very powerful man and a lot of people will do anything for him to be dead. Vito Corleone likes to live his life in the way of the old country, but times are changing and some of the members don’t want to follow the old ways and look out for the community and “family”. One of the family’s rivals wants to start selling drugs in the business, and they need Vito Corleone approval to do it, but Vito Corleone is highly against drug trafficking. With his sons Michael, Sonny, and Fredo and other friends and family members helping him with the business they are able to make all this work, but with snitches inside the business and when things don’t go as planned terrible prices, especially from Michael, and the whole family are going to have to be paid. I would give this movie five stars out of five.

The trailer for the movie “Insidious Chapter 2” was okay, it didn’t have that “it” factor that makes people want to go see the movie, I will go get it when it comes out in redox, but not in theatres. This is a sequel to the movie “Insidious”. In that movie it was about a family of three, the mother, the father, and the son. In the first movie the son gets possessed by spirits. “Insidious Chapter 2” is about Josh and Renai Lambert, a husband and wife who seek to uncover the secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world. After watching the preview for the movie I still don’t understand what the movie is going to be about 100%. Overall I think that this movie will be mediocre, but maybe it wont be. Maybe it was just a bad trailer.

After watching the preview for the movie “Sinister” I can tell that this movie is going to have hundreds of people peeing themselves, including myself. This movie is about a mother, father, and their daughter that just moved into their new house. One day the father was putting a box up in the attic and in the middle of the floor he found a box that wasn’t theirs, and it had a bunch of 8mm home movie films that suggest the murder he is currently researching is the work of a serial killer whose career dates back all the way in the 1960’s. Now that I have seen the trailer for the movie I can’t wait to go see the movie, but I’m defiantly watching it with friends. Only the bravest of the brave would watch this movie by themselves.
